Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal East was established during the year 2005 at Leitanpekpham, Andro under the administrative control of Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, Manipur. It has been functioning as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technology supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district and state as a whole. The center is located in Keirao Bitra subdivision of Imphal East district in Manipur, India. It is situated 22.5 km away from district headquarter Imphal East and 25.2 km away Imphal city.  

Our Vision 

To design, develop and act as a new knowledge and skill centre, ready to transfer and to uplift the socio-economic condition of the farmers with continuous monitoring collaborative research, extension and providing services to the farmers so as to bring a transformed district with self reliant economy based on equity leading to a sustainable agriculture based livelihood.

 Awareness/Sensitization on importance of Water harvesting and suitable techniques.

 on production of good quality seeds/planting material/ fish seeds/propagation material by adopting farmers’ Participatory programme.

 and popularization of secondary agriculture eg. Bee keeping and Mushroom cultivation and Vermicomposting.

 of farm mechanization through popularization of suitable low cost and high efficiency tools and implements.

 of appropriate scientific packages and practices for Agri and Allied activities including organic farming, suitable crop rotation, integrated pest management, integrated nutrient management etc.

Since its inception, KVK Imphal East has been working for the improvement of livelihood of farming community in the district through scientific intervention in agriculture and allied sector where Technology Assessment and Required Refinement is done followed by large scale demonstration for wider dissemination of the technologies.

Focus Area

• Increasing production and productivity of rice through SRI (5.5 tons per ha to 7.2 tons per ha).

• Promotion of seed production of kharif and rabi pulses,oilseeds  e.g. Blackgram, Greengram, Soybean, Groundnut etc. by utilizing waste areas in the foothills of the district for increasing farmer’s income.

• Crop intensification in rice fallow areas during rabi season.
